Cleaning the Places You Often Forget

Floors swept and mopped? Check. Toilet scrubbed? Check. Garbage disposal cleaned? Che–, wait. When’s the last time you cleaned it? Okay, let’s move on. Lint trap emptied? …. Sighs. You haven’t cleaned that either, have you? It’s okay. Really. These are both areas that we often forget to clean. And, there are others as well. Let’s take a closer look at cleaning the places you often forget.

Garbage Disposal

If you’ve ever been standing in your kitchen wondering where that smell is coming from, it may be time to clean your garbage disposal. But how? Sure there are tricks about lemons and ice cubes and all sorts of hacks, but what about those of that want something simple? Arm & Hammer Garbage Disposal Cleaner is super easy to use. All you need to do is run the water and the disposal for 1 minute. Turn off the disposal and continue to run the water at a slow stream. Drop in the capsule and run for 15 seconds. Once you’re done, you’ll notice a fresh clean citrus scent.

Bathroom Drains

Another source of hidden odors can come from your bathroom drains. Think of all the dirt and grime that gets washed away and into the drains. Before bed, fill the drains with baking soda and then add vinegar. The two will create a reaction that bubbles up and cleans the drain. The next morning, run water down the drain for a few minutes to clear them out. Your drains should smell nice and fresh.

Lint Trap

We’ve all heard it and it’s true. If you don’t clean your lint trap, you risk a house fire. The first thing you want to do is remove the lint from inside the dryer. Next, you can use a lint trap brush to help clear the hose. If there is a lot of lint, use a vacuum attachment to get out as much of the lint as possible. Next, go outside and locate the vent. Remove the outer grate and clean out the lint. If you haven’t done this in a long time, you can use a cordless vacuum to get out the rest of the lint.

What areas have you forgotten to clean? Was it shocking once you remembered and found out how gross the area had become? Do you now clean it on a regular basis? Let me know in the comments below.
