The Perfect Christmas Potpourri
Nothing is better than walking into a home that just simply smells like Christmas. I don’t know how exactly to describe that smell entirely, but it is just an amazing scent that makes you feel happy and warm, just like Christmas! Christmas makes you feel cheery and warm, and having this scent in your home will definitely make the Christmas experience that much better! Use the sense of smell is amazing because it can really add to the experience and I know it always makes me remember all the amazing times I had with my family as a little girl celebrating Christmas with my family! Use this amazing Christmas Potpourri to add to your guests holiday experience this year!
What you will need:
-The peel of One Orange
-1/2 Cup Cranberries
-A minimum of 3 Cinnamon sticks (I personally LOVE the scent of Cinnamon so I like to throw a couple extra in there to add to the scent)
-1 Tbsp of Nutmeg.
Directions:
-Simply boil a pot of water on your stove top, add in all of your ingredients and allow it to simmer for as long as you would like. The longer you allow this mix to simmer, the more the scent builds throughout your home. This mixture will resonate throughout your whole house and it will never have smelled better!
I cannot get over how absolutely amazing this scent combination is! I don’t know what it is, but this mixture just reminds me of the holidays and makes me feel so happy and cheerful, after all the holiday season is the most wonderful time of the year…you should feel this way! The mixture of the citrus smell from your orange, cranberries have always reminded of the holidays probably because we eat cranberry sauce during the holiday season, the cinnamon adds that signature spicy scent of Fall and Winter, and the nutmeg just helps kick that cinnamon into over drive and just add to that spicy scent that is so amazing during the holiday season. If you plan to have holiday guests over for dinner or to simply celebrate the holidays this year, prepare this mixture about an hour ahead of time and allow it to simmer, by the time they begin to arrive, they walk into an amazing scent wonderland! The holidays with family can tend to be a bit stressful, but I promise this scent throughout your home will make everyone feel happy!
