Frozen Banana Granola Pops

 

Bananas are not just for the morning they can be great snacks in the summertime too. I love freezing bananas and making it into ice cream and for a special treat you can whip up Frozen Banana Granola Pops with this healthy recipe.

 

I make sure to have bananas on hand all the time, who knows when the kids may want a banana milkshake, sliced bananas, and strawberries for lunch or a peanut butter banana sandwich.

 

Ingredients:
4 bananas
3 tablespoons Viki’s Banana Walnut Granola
6 ounces dark chocolate chips or shards
8 popsicle sticks

Directions:
• Peel, cut bananas in half crosswise and insert Popsicle sticks.  Place on a parchment-lined tray, cover with plastic wrap and freeze for about 3 hours.
• Place Viki’s Banana Walnut Granola into a shallow dish. Melt chocolate in a double boiler over slightly simmering water, over low heat, constantly stirring. Pour the chocolate into a tall glass.
• Dip each banana into the chocolate and roll in the granola straightaway. Place on a parchment-lined tray.
• Serve immediately or wrap individually in parchment paper or plastic wrap in the freezer.

While we’d all love to deck our kids out in designer duds, doing so is just plain foolish. For one, kids grow fast. That fabulous dress that little Suzie wore last month, probably looks more like a shirt on her now. And kids can be messy, in case you didn’t know! No reason to spend a lot of money on shoes that will become mud-covered in short order. Thrift stores are an excellent place from which to purchase kids’ clothes. Jeans especially, which usually end up with holes in the knees, are the perfect item to purchase at these types of establishments. For the same amount of money that one pair of new jeans costs, you could have six pairs from the thrift store. Totally worth it!

 

  • Save on Jammies

 

Speaking of stained and damaged clothes, they’re perfect repurposed as pajamas. No need to waste money on PJs when you have an entire pile of imperfect clothes sitting in your laundry room. If little Johnny spills some grape juice on his favorite tee shirt, wash it and let him wear it at night to sleep in. You can save a small fortune by doing this. Five Ways to Show Your Kids You Love Them

You may take for granted that your kids know you love them, but, in many cases that may not be true. Kids need constant reassurance, especially from Mom and Dad. The world is hard and kids can face a lot of troubles and difficulties out in society. A strong foundation of love and security at home can go a long way in giving your child the strength to get through each day in a positive way. Try these ideas:

 

  • Small Gestures

 

Place sweet notes in lunches, tape them to their bedroom door, or write loving messages on their bathroom mirror. These are all ways to remind your kids that you love them and are thinking about them. Buy them a treat, or watch their favorite show with them. Little things like this go a long way.

 

  • Expect a Lot From Them

 

This may seem counterintuitive, but expecting a lot of our kids makes them know that we think very highly of them. Challenge them and expect them to help around the house. Teach them life skills that will set them up for success once their out on their own. Give them a purpose and make them feel like they have a mission in life. They may not see the value in this now, but when they’re older, they’ll thank you for expecting a lot of them and believing their capable of accomplishing a lot!

 

  • Care About Their Health

 

Don’t feed your kids junk and let them sit around all day. Nor should you let them stay up until all hours and then sleep until noon. Teach your children self-care and guide them about what kind of food they eat and how much sedentary time they engage in, especially staring at screens. Make them feel like you care about them – mind, body, and spirit.

 

  • Set Limits

 

Give your kids boundaries. Check their phone and social media accounts to make sure they’re on the up and up online. Don’t indulge their every wish and desire. Don’t allow them to be disrespectful to you or others. Again, they may see this as mean and oppressive now, but later in life they’ll look back and see how much you cared about their safety, character, and well-being.

 

  • Tell Them

 

Tell your kids that you love them when you wake them up each morning. Then again when you drop them off at school. And when you pick them up. Tell them when they walk into the room and again when they leave it. Email them and tell them that you love them. Post it on their Facebook page. Tell them multiple times at night before they go to sleep. Let it be the last thing they hear from you before they close their eyes at the end of each day. The point is, you can never ever tell them enough that you love them. Not only will they know for sure how you feel about them, but this practice will help them to become loving, caring people as well.

How to encourage self-confidence when raising daughters.

 

Raising daughters can come with a whirlwind of emotions, girls are some very interesting creatures. I think at some point in our lives, all girls or women suffer from having a low self-confidence. Whether that be at a very young age because kids were making fun of appearance on the playground, in high school when their boyfriend dumps them for another girl, or even as an adult constantly comparing yourself to models that you see in magazines. No girl should ever feel this way and our jobs as parents is to encourage the strength and confidence in our daughters so they are never upset! Today I am going to be sharing with you a few tips for raising your daughter to have self-confidence and love herself! This is something you can start when they are very young so that they grow up to be strong women!
-Compliment Them: Giving your girls praise and compliments of any kind will help to boost her confidence. You may think they don’t care what their parents think of them, but trust me they do! You giving them that praise and love will really help with their self-confidence and make them feel comfortable in their own skin.
 
-Set an Example: Girls are constantly looking up to their mother whether you realize it or not so it is highly important to set a positive example for your daughter. Do not put yourself down or trash talk other girls. This makes your daughters think that is okay and they will mimic your behavior. Have confidence in yourself and be a good role model for the little eyes watching you as they grow up.
 
-Encourage Body Confidence: When it comes to self-confidence you can be your own worse enemy. Make sure that your daughters are not their worst enemy. If you hear them putting themselves down, stop them! Don’t let them beat themselves up and bring down their confidence. Teach them to be proud of themselves and love their body!
 
-Start Sports/Exercise Early: It is really important to be healthy and get exercise for everybody! This is why I highly recommend starting your kids in sports and exercise at an early age because this will keep them active and healthy. They will want to actually workout and have fun while staying healthy and happy.
 
-Tell Them to Ignore Mean Words From Others: Unfortunately, Kids can be bullies and there is nothing we can do to stop that. This is why we need to teach our children to ignore what other kids say and don’t let that bother them! Teach your daughter to be strong and make sure she knows that it doesn’t matter what anyone else thinks of her as long as she is happy.
