5 Reasons Adults Should Make Time for Reading & Giveaway

Allows Us to Escape Reality

Numero uno! Reading takes you to another universe. Reading takes you into the author’s mind where they conjured up ideas and plots that make us FORGET the grind of daily life. Reading helps us escape the stress and experience adventure or romance.
Inspires Creativity
The second reason why an adult should read more is that it’s another outlet to stir the imagination and become creative. Reading makes us think. It’s like exercise for the brain. We stretch our brain cells, making them work to understand things sometimes that are out of our comfort zone. Reading books stirs the soul.
Encourages Empathy
Number 3! Reading gives us peace. It can excite or relax; it can make us laugh or cry. Reading takes us to new dimensions or back into the shoes of someone in history. Reading for humans is what water is to plants. Reading books whisks you away.
Lowers Blood Pressure
In a recent study from the National Book Committee Society (NBCS) says that if adults read one hour a day, it can lower their blood pressure to a 120 over 80. That’s actually not true, and I made it up. There is no such thing as the NBCS or the study, but there should be.
Stress Relief
When I read, it calms my nerves. It removes the stress of life and takes me out of my world. Reading with my kids tickles and delights, watching them transported by a collection of words on a page. It brings the world closer, rips away barriers, and teaches us what others may be thinking. Reading makes our world a cozier place.
